The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry is one of India's most prestigious Institutes of National Importance, functioning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Established decades ago, JIPMER has earned a distinguished reputation for excellence in postgraduate medical education, advanced clinical research, and high-quality patient care. The institute now operates across three campuses — the main campus at Puducherry, the second campus at Karaikal inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India in February 2024, and the Multi-Specialty Consulting Unit at Yanam designed to extend specialist healthcare to the region's population.


JIPMER has released a detailed recruitment advertisement dated 12 June 2026 inviting eligible Indian nationals to apply for 34 Group A Non-Faculty positions. These posts span across Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale) in seven specialties at Yanam, General Duty Medical Officer posts across all three campuses, and a Child Psychologist at Puducherry. Selected candidates will be appointed as permanent Central Government employees and will be entitled to pay under the 7th Pay Commission, Non-Practising Allowance, Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, medical benefits, pension under NPS, and all other Central Government service benefits.

📘 Exam Syllabus / Pattern

The Computer Based Test consists of objective type MCQ questions. Each correct answer carries 4 marks. Each wrong answer carries minus 1 mark as negative marking. Unanswered questions carry 0 marks. Important note: There is no negative marking for Specialist Grade II (Junior Scale) posts.


Candidates shortlisted from CBT are called for personal interview in the following ratio: 1 to 2 posts — 5 times the number of posts. 3 to 4 posts — 4 times the number of posts. 5 posts and above — 3 times the number of posts.


Minimum qualifying marks in CBT: UR and EWS candidates require 50 percent. UR and EWS PwBD candidates require 45 percent. SC, ST, and OBC candidates require 40 percent.


Final merit list weightage: When both CBT and Interview are conducted, 80 percent weightage to CBT and 20 percent to Interview. When only Interview is conducted, 100 percent weightage to Interview.


Exam language is English only. Exam mode is Online CBT. Exam date is 15 July 2026.
